Amami-Oshima Island, Tokunoshima Island,
Northern part of Okinawa Island, and Iriomote Island

In the process of managing the nominated property, it is necessary to monitor activities, assess the findings, and ensure that feedback is appropriately applied, based on the latest scientific knowledge. To that end, a Scientific Committee on Amami-Oshima Island, Tokunoshima Island, Northern part of Okinawa Island, and Iriomote Island: Natural World Heritage Nominated Property and Local Working Groups composed of experts and other persons well versed in the region’s nature, are established as a body from which to seek expert advice in the course of formulating and revising the Management Plan, and implementing a range of projects.
